He's a Heisman finalist for the second year in a row after leading the Sooners to a Big 12 title and berth in the College Football Playoff (Rose Bowl vs. Georgia). Those totals give him 4,340 yards and 41 touchdowns, both second-most in the nation, with just five interceptions on the year.

Jackson, who is looking to join Ohio State's Archie Griffin (1974, 1975) in accomplishing the feat, joined Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and Stanford running back Bryce Love in being named as Heisman finalists on Monday.

The Heisman has been awarded to the best college football player dating back to 1935, although the first award was called the DAC Trophy after New York's Downtown Athletic Club.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson will have a chance to become the first repeat Heisman Trophy victor since 1975.

The presentation ceremony will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday in New York City. I still have another game to play this year and finish the season strong. In three seasons at Louisville, Jackson ranks fourth in school history with 8,872 career passing yards, overtaking Miami's Jacory Harris (2008-11) for 18th on the ACC's career list. He is second nationally with 164 rushing yards per game and set an FBS record with 12 runs of at least 50 yards.

Jackson rushed for 156 yards in the Cardinals' regular-season finale, breaking his own Louisville record for the most 100-yard rushing games in a season with nine. Milton is second nationally in passing efficiency and is the spitfire-engine of the country's highest-scoring offense. With a game to go, Jackson's numbers look like this: 241/399 (60.4), 3,489 yards, 25 TDs and 6 INTs passing with 1,443 yards (6.9 avg) and 17 TDs rushing.

Barkley also received support from LSU's Derrius Guice, another top running back prospect for the 2018 NFL Draft.
