"We're suspecting that it's a hand grenade of some sort", Lars Alvarsjo, chief of Stockholm's southern police district, told the Swedish national broadcaster SVT.

The man, in his 60s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries while the woman, in her mid-40s, received "minor wounds" to face and both legs, Olsson said.

One person died and another was slightly hurt Sunday in a blast outside a metro station in a Stockholm suburb, police said.

A woman was also injured in the blast, at the Varby Gard station in the municipality of Huddinge, which is about 11 kilometers south of Stockholm.

HP Issues Recall For Laptop Batteries Amid Fire Risk
In fact, HP is strongly recommending enabling the Battery Safety Mode if the battery fails the validation tests. One person suffered a first-degree burn from the battery and three others had property damage totaling $4,500.

Numerous illegal hand grenades found in Sweden are being imported from former Yugoslav nations, he said.

There was no reason to believe the event was linked to terrorism, he said.

The Swedish tabloids Aftonbladet and Expressen claimed the device may have been a hand grenade but Olsson dismissed that as speculation.

The Varby Gard station, on the Red Line in southwest Stockholm, has been closed off for investigation.
