That's why I was happy when Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive announced today that they have partnered up once again to create The Surge 2, which will release sometime in 2019. Publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer Deck13 announced the renewal of their partnership, as well as a release window of 2019.

The Surge is available now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The dynamic limb-targeting system will remain, as will character progression, but the team say the new game will "expand greatly upon the formula" of the first game. This expansion added some new locations that were accessible through the main game and featured a different setting in the form of a theme park.

The developer also noted that the combat is more brutal than ever, with even more options in the limb-targeting system. Naturally, The Surge 2 will also include other expected enhancements like new weapons, abilities, drones, and implants, everything a player will need to take down the sequel's new enemy types and boss encounters.

Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13's partnership brought us The Surge past year, a unique action RPG that featured an intriguing premise and interesting protagonist.

Outside of a promise to reveal more later, we only have this key art above to go with at this stage.
