House Intel Republicans Plan to Partition Aides From Dems

  • Rep. Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence arrives for a committee meeting the U.S. Capitol Monday. Attempting to block the memo his staff prepared on the grounds of national security was duplicitious

All signs point to committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, CBS reports.

Congressional Republicans want to build a wall separating GOP and Democratic staffers on Capitol Hill, a new report says.

"I swear to God I didn't know that", Rooney said.

One Republican member of committee, Florida's Tom Rooney, told CBS News that the wall is the result of eroding trust between the two parties, which have recently feuded over dueling memos about the FBI's role in Mueller's investigation. "You've got to talk to Devin".

The developer also noted that the combat is more brutal than ever, with even more options in the limb-targeting system. Outside of a promise to reveal more later, we only have this key art above to go with at this stage.

Rooney refused to lend his support to building a barrier but he did acknowledge that the climate among committee members has turned poisonous. "This committee has a strong record of bipartisanship", he said at the time, "and based on my previous cooperation with Rep. Schiff on the committee and on other issues, I am confident this tradition will continue in the new Congress". He told CBS that the probe is investigating the "entire" staff, even "the woman up front that answers the phone". That divide was laid bare last week by the release of Nunes' partisan memo that purports to show the Federal Bureau of Investigation abused the FISA system to secure a warrant to extend surveillance of a President Donald Trump campaign aide.

Also plaguing the committee is concerns over leadership, as several Democrats have called for Nunes's removal over the memo controversy, and delays in the committee's investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential race. The committee voted Monday to release a classified Democratic counter-memo, but Republicans have said they think it needs redactions.

The move was part of Democratic lawmakers attempt to argue Nunes' memo is misleading and one-sided as the White House considers whether or not to release the response from the Democrats on the panel.
