  • Woman gives birth and leaves note after abandoning infant son in Arizona airport bathroom as authorities ask for public's help in identifying her

An airport employee found the child January 14 abandoned in a restroom near the rental auto counters.

After reviewing the video and talking to witnesses, airport police now believe that it's possible the woman gave birth to the baby in a restroom in Concourse B shortly before 9 p.m., then took the baby to the family restroom in the baggage claim area to clean up, according to the release.

She told police she had become concerned after spotting "pools of blood" on the bathroom floor.

Another Avis employee called 911, saying: "Somebody left a newborn baby with a note in the bathroom". "Please get me to the authorities so they can find a good home", the note read.

The woman then took the baby to the restroom outside the rental auto facility, where she left him with a handwritten note which read, "please help me".

Cape Breton unemployment rate up 0.3 per cent
Even with the decline, Canada has had a strong run of job creation that's generated 414,100 full-time jobs over a 12-month period. Statistics Canada says the local economy was stagnant in January with little change in jobs but an increase in the jobless rate.

Women who abandon newborns to authorities at places like fire stations and hospitals are protected by the law; the law doesn't extend to airports.

Ms Quintana also found the bloodied clothes in the bathroom rubbish bin. "Please, I'm sorry." According to the Washington Post, the baby appears healthy and has been taken by the Arizona Department of Child Safety.

The note then switches to what appears to be a plea and apology from the mother.

Kimberly Marshall, the co-founder of Arizona Safe Baby Haven foundation added: "We hear stories where a baby is abandoned, or a mother who has had a baby doesn't know what to do, doesn't know who to turn to".

ABC 13 reports the baby was left with a note. Airport officials are trying to identify the mother, "but we've exhausted our resources", Butler said in a statement. Authorities haven't decided on criminal charges against the woman. There are a lot of different things that are probably going through a mother's mind.
