That's a more-than-solid opening for any comedy, much less a comedy dealing with "Black Panther" mania.

Already, "Black Panther" is the fifth-highest grossing movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and within a day or so, it'll overtake "Captain America: Civil War" and "Iron Man 3" to claim third place.

Unsurprisingly, those second-weekend numbers come with their own set of records.

Black Panther has become the fourth movie to ever surpass the $100 million threshold during the second week of running in theaters.

Sony's animated adventure comedy film "Peter Rabbit" landed in third place with an estimated United States dollars 12.54 million in its third weekend, pushing its North American cume to USD 71.29 million through Sunday.

Overall, "Black Panther" showed strong staying power losing only 47 percent of its domestic audience from its record-breaking opening weekend.

He claimed three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and three League Cups over two stints but was twice sacked. The Blues have won just two of their last nine away matches in all competitions (D4, L3).

It also means the film ties Jurassic World for the second-fastest movie to reach that total of all time.

"Black Panther" has scored one of the best second weekends ever with an estimated $108 million in ticket sales.

It's on its way to becoming the third highest grossing superhero movie of all time, behind Avengers: Age of Ultron ($458m) and The Avengers ($623m). With the global collection included, Black Panther minted $704 million. Hispanics remain unchanged at 18 percent, followed by Asians (7 percent) and Native Americans/Other (5 percent).

Annihilation opened in fourth place with $11 million.

Starring alongside Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong'o, Boseman plays the titular superhero also known as T'Challa, king and protector of the technologically advanced fictional African nation of Wakanda, an affluent, never-colonized utopia. The well-reviewed comedy, which features the pair as an overly competitive couple who gets in over their heads when their regular game night turns into a night of crime and craziness, pulled in $16.6 million, above initial $12 to $14 million expectations from the studio. Although Twitter activity has cooled since the movie's premiere last weekend, according to social media tracking firm RelishMix, tweets with "Black Panther" hashtags are still averaging about 352,000 a day.

Down two places, "Fifty Shades Freed" earns #5 with $6.9 million (cume now $89.6 million).
