  • Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick re-signs with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There have been a few exceptions in recent years, with blockbuster extensions handed out to the likes of defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Lavonte David.

Evans was a second-team All-Pro in 2016, and has twice reached 12 receiving touchdowns in a season.

Evans now will be behind Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown, who is the highest-paid receiver at $17 million per year, and just above Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who makes $16.2 million annually. As is the case with all first-round picks, he received an original four-year contract with a team option for a fifth year.

Jason Licht may not have been involved in any trades over the past few days, but he's been working hard at ensuring that a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was locked up for years to come.

Should Trump Welcome the Saudi Crown Prince?
Lambeth PalaceThe archbishop of Canterbury held a private meeting with Saudi Arabia's crown prince on Thursday morning. They discussed Saudi Arabia's " Vision 2030 " initiative, which is Mr Bin Salman's plan for the future of his country.

The $16.5 million annual salary ranks second among National Football League wide receivers, behind only Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On the Buccaneers' career receiving yardage chart, Evans has already risen to third, behind only Mark Carrier (5,018) and Kevin house (4,928).

In Fitzpatrick's first season with the Bucs, he played in six games with three starts, finishing with a 2-1 record. Glennon was drafted by the Buccaneers but joined the Chicago Bears in 2017. Evans will be number one all time in Bucs history in receptions, touchdowns, and yards by the end of the 2018 season barring any injury troubles.
