  • Turkey will deliver Afrin to its true owners, says Erdoğan

The 50,000-strong YPG has allied with the U.S. in eradicating the Islamic State group from northern Syria and have been armed by the USA since May 2017.

So far, 3,213 "terrorists" have been killed during the operation, carried out by Turkish troops and affiliated Free Syrian Army (FSA) militants, Erdogan stated.

Erdogan asked. "We came in response to the calls on Afghanistan, Somalia and the Balkans, and now I am making the call, let's go to Syria".

In mid-February, Turkey marked 66 years of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation membership.

People are planning to act as human shields in an effort to protect the Syrian city of Afrin as the Turkish military and its allied forces prepare to capture the Kurdish-controlled urban centre.

Liz Hurley's nephew stabbed, actor rushes back home
Scotland Yard continued that neither of the men's injuries were "life-threatening or life-changing". The actress and model, 52, has returned to Britain to be with 21-year-old Miles Hurley .

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on global law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN charter, and respect for Syria's territorial integrity, it said.

The Turkish leader also reiterated his earlier statements, that his only goal in Syria was the "fight against terrorism".

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made the nationalist "grey wolf" sign during a Justice and Development party rally in the southern province of Mersin, reports said. The latter has been fighting for an autonomous region inside Turkey since 1984.

Washington has repeatedly called upon Turkey to stop its "aggression" against the Afrin region, omitting the fact that the US-led coalition itself spent years in Syria without any invitation from the government or global approval. A number of towns and villages were taken from the YPG on Sunday by Turkey's military and its allies in the north and south of the Kurdish district.

The statement said that the terrorists were plotting an attack on the Turkish military and their bases in the region.
