"The service was handsome, especially the choir and the music" Ms Markle said to a school teacher.

Of course, the event isn't just for Markle and the Queen.

He explained: "She has to be careful what she says, how she says it, and how it's taken because after the 19th of May, it will be very much the reflection of the royal family".

"She was saying what a lovely service it had been and her first service at Westminster Abbey", said Holly Hartley, the principal of Thistley Hough Academy in Stoke on Trent.

The outing comes months after another major exception was made on Markle's behalf when she spent the Christmas holiday with the senior members of the royal family at her Sandringham residence.

Following the #CommonwealthDay Service, TRH's & Ms. Markle then had the opportunity to meet some school children who travelled from Belfast, Fyfe, Aberystwyth, Stoke-on-Trent, Alnmouth, Berwick-upon-tweed and York to attend.

The former Suits star also remarked on the "beautiful" service while speaking to a religious education teacher from Newcastle, adding that she had especially enjoyed the music. "In the Royal family all understand why Megan chose to have a mother led her to the altar, but not according to the tradition, when such a role assumes a woman, not a man".

The royal bride-to-be and her late mother-in-law have both worn the Prince of Wales check, as has Kate.
