Chris Stewart made the comment following the committee's Monday announcement that a draft report of their findings is at odds with US intelligence agencies' view of Russia's attempt to interfere in the election "with respect to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's supposed preference for candidate Trump". "We found perhaps some bad judgment, inappropriate meetings", Conaway said during a briefing with reporters on Monday afternoon. They said the committee had conducted 73 interviews, mostly behind closed doors, and collected more than 300,000 documents.
Notably absent from the drafting of the report were efforts from House Democrats, who have long alleged that collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation existed. "But we can't find anything that leads us to a collusion string". "Putin purported preference for Trump, we think is not supported by the evidence".
The public will not see the report until Democrats have reviewed it and the intelligence community has decided what information can become public, a process that could take weeks.
Following the news of the report Trump took to Twitter late Monday announcing no collusion was found.

"We disagree with the intelligence community's position that (Vladimir) Putin favored Trump", Conaway told Fox News, adding that he had "no contact" with the White House during the investigation.
Democrats are expected to dispute its conclusions as premature or partisan and raise what they call the roadblocks to a true investigation that Republicans put in place.
But when asked if he thinks Trump should feel vindicated by the decision to shut down the investigation, Nunes responded that it's not up to him to give the program "analysis about how the president feels or doesn't feel". The House's findings contradict the assessment of US intelligence officials who said Russian Federation preferred Trump.
The intense polarization in the committee was ossified during a protracted duel over declassified memos earlier this year - a Republican memo alleging FBI surveillance abuses, and a Democratic rebuttal defending the bureau's methods.
Democrats later released their own 10-page memo rebutting the Republican allegations, saying the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department handled the warrant appropriately and the surveillance court was told there was political motivation behind the opposition research.
The House committee's announcement will surely shift the spotlight across Capitol Hill to the Senate Intelligence Committee, where senators have been able to proceed largely in private and with comparative comity.
