Trump lashes out at Amazon and sends stocks tumbling

White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters, asked if Trump was singling out Amazon, said only that "the president has expressed his concerns", adding: "We have no actions at this time".

United States President Donald Trump has taken aim at the online retailing giant Amazon over taxes, saying the company pays "little or no taxes to state & local governments".

"I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the Election", Trump tweeted today.

"In addition to those comments regarding Amazon, we bought Ford in the Winter of 2017 when he promised to help his "good friend" Bill Ford which cost us nearly 40%".

Where Trump is correct: Amazon doesn't collect taxes on behalf of third-party vendors, and it still may not collect some local taxes, giving it an advantage over some traditional retailers, according to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, a think tank.

Trump has repeatedly attacked the Washington Post, too, calling it "Fake News Washington Post", and a "tax shelter" for Amazon.

"Without packages, the U.S. Postal Service would have to raise prices on all other mail services", the source said. And Amazon signed a deal in 2014 with the post office to deliver packages on Sundays. "Like other businesses, Amazon pays taxes on corporate income, property, payroll and unemployment insurance", the review read.

U.S. actress Sanaa Lathan denies biting Beyonce at a party
Tiffany went on to say that Bey stormed off and went up to her husband Jay-Z to tell him what had happened. But it's said that all was forgiven because the actress was "on drugs" and didn't usually act like that.

Stock in Amazon, the fourth most valuable company in the world, fell 3% Thursday morning.

Since that report Wednesday morning, shares of Amazon have shed almost 9%-lopping off as much as $10.7 billion from the net worth of Bezos, who recently became the world's richest man (excluding, perhaps, Russian President Vladimir Putin).

A spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service declined to comment.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah denied on Thursday that Trump's criticism was a personal grudge.

On July 24, 2017, the president tweeted about Amazon / the Washington Post three separate times, including one tweet where he openly wondered if the Post was being "used as a lobbyist weapon against Congress to keep politicians from looking into Amazon" and its taxes.

Amazon is "putting many thousands of retailers out of business!" But other megastores like Walmart share much of the blame for that.

Amazon founder Bezos also privately owns the Washington Post, which won a Pulitzer Prize past year for its investigation of Trump's donations to charities.
