  • Abe to Ask Trump to Address N Korea's Abductions During Talks With Kim - Reports

Mr. Trump has said he will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by the end of May.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said he will seek USA cooperation in dealing with North Korea when he meets with President Donald Trump later this month.

Regarding the North, Abe said there is no point of holding talks for the sake of talks.

The Trump-Abe summit is set to take place on April 17-18 and will be the third such meeting between the two leaders. The two leaders will discuss the global campaign to maintain maximum pressure on Pyongyang ahead of Trump's possible meeting with the North Korean leader, according to the statement.

According to the White House, the president's "planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un" and "the worldwide campaign to maintain maximum" pressure on the hermit nation in advance of that summit will be a top agenda item when the two leaders meet.

Overwatch Uprising Event Returns

India, US, and Japan will also discuss regional and global issues with the government, as well as, the representatives of other sectors and formulate ways to strengthen ties amid growing China tensions.

The forthcoming meeting between the president and the Japanese leader comes after Trump last month agreed to meet with Kim after a South Korean delegation traveled to North Korea.

During the meeting, the Japanese leader and the president will likely discuss the new tariffs on China announced by Trump last month, which were created to end what he views as unfair trade practices.

The abductees' families last Friday urged Abe to seek Mr. Trump's help, saying this could be their last chance to win their loved ones' release. Pyongyang, after years of denials, acknowledged in 2002 abducting 13 Japanese.
