  • Patriots' Julian Edelman May Have Thwarted a School Shooting

The New England Patriots' Julian Edelman, known for his quick feet on the turf, is now being praised for his quick thinking off the field, which may have thwarted another school shooting. "There is a kid in your comment section says he [is] going to shoot up a school, I think you should alert the authority". And sure enough, Moen found the threatening statement: "I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news".

Edelman, an eight-year National Football League veteran with a Jewish father, was on a trip in Texas, but he contacted his assistant in Boston, who tracked down the ominous comment.

Although the celebrity profile of Edelman, the Patriots' second-leading receiver in their dramatic Super Bowl LI comeback victory over the Falcons, contributed to the discovery, it was someone with the Instagram handle of jessey13 who notified Edelman of the comment via a direct message.

In response to questions about the disturbing posting on Edelman's account, Boston Police Department spokeswoman Maisha Miraj would neither confirm nor deny who was involved, but said, "We were alerted to a post".

Moen instantly contacted police and authorities which led them to Port Huron, Michigan the location the user sent the threat from.

The incident occured roughly five weeks after 17 people lost their lives in the Parkland, Fla., school shooting.

Police also said they found two rifles in the teen's home that belonged to his mother. Police linked the post to a 14-year-old MI boy.

The 14-year-old was arrested and charged with making a false report of a terrorist threat.

"When I told Julian, he was in shock", Moen said.
