Kensington Palace says "it has been decided that an official list of political leaders - both United Kingdom and global - is not required" for the wedding.

The decision was reached after royal officials consulted with the British government to go over protocol and precedent.

After consulting with the British government, the royal family chose against inviting U.S. President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama, The Guardian reported.

We know royal weddings are inherently political event - maybe even the most political event, outside of outright war - but bear with us here.

According to BBC, Harry and Markle decided not to invite political leaders because Harry is only fifth in line to the throne, and Windsor Chapel, where their wedding ceremony is set to take place, isn't almost as big as Westminster Abby in London where Harry's older brother, Prince William, tied the knot in 2011 with his wife Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge.

I think we can all agree that it's pretty disappointing that Prince Harry is still planning to marry someone who is not me.

The list includes Phillip Gillespie, a soldier from Northern Ireland who lost his right leg in a combat incident in Afghanistan, where Harry also served, and a number of people who have founded charities.

Who is not invited to the Royal Wedding?

Twelve-year-old Amelia Thompson, who was injured in the Ariana Grande concert attack in Manchester in May last year, has been confirmed as a guest.

Reuben Litherland, a 14-year-old schoolboy, has been invited for teaching his classmates sign language after he was born deaf.

Invites have also been sent out to members of the public, who have been asked to join the celebrations at Windsor Castle for the couple's big day.

"While the prime minister and Sophie Trudeau will not be attending the wedding, we congratulate Prince Harry and Ms. Markle and wish them the best", the statement read.

"They will watch the arrivals of the Bride and Groom and their wedding guests at the Chapel and will see the Carriage Procession as it departs from the Castle".
