Kevin Durant #35 of the Golden State Warriors during the first half of the National Basketball Association game against the Phoenix Suns at Talking Stick Resort Arena on April 8, 2018 in Phoenix.

Last year's NBA Finals MVP will decline his player option for the 2018-19 season and enter the free agency market, turning down a salary of $26.2 million. Durant now is playing under the team-friendly two-year, $51 million contract he signed last offseason but he'll reportedly decline the 2018-19 player option his deal contains and pursue an agreement that better reflects his status as one of the sport's premier players.

The contract included a player opt-out provision after the 2017-18 season, and it appears Durant will exercise his option.

The flexible contract Durant signed back in 2016 was mainly so the Warriors could resign vital bench pieces such as Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala, but also gave KD the opportunity to end it early in case of a change of heart or simply wanting more money.

Durant could very well be looking at a four-year, $158 million contract-or something shorter if he wants to afford himself more flexibility.

Arizona court rejects in-state tuition for 'Dreamers'
The court said it issued its brief order in order to allow colleges and students affected as much time as possible to plan. Arizona residents pay $86 per credit hour at the Maricopa Community Colleges, while non-residents pay $241.

"I'm sure here soon I'll want to sign a long-term deal just to feel stable".

Durant is earning much less than what a player of his caliber should be getting. "But I'm enjoying every moment of it, so I'm not trying to look too far down the line".

The nine-time All-Star finished this season with an average of 26.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists.

The reigning NBA Finals MVP won his first title with Warriors past year. His earnings would grow to $38.2 million in the first year and the option year would be worth $41 million.

In the former scenario, Durant can opt out after the first year and sign a five-year max deal that would see his salary peak at $49.9 million in his fifth year.
