Ian Rapoport refutes Seahawks postponed Colin Kaepernick visit over kneeling

  • Kaepernick won't stop kneeling?

Colin Kaepernick was supposed to meet with the Seahawks this week, but the team chose to hold off on the visit after the quarterback would not promise to stop kneeling during the national anthem, ESPN reported, citing unidentified sources.

I have advocated for the Seahawks to bring in ex-49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and I have no objections to players bringing light to social-injustice issues by kneeling during the national anthem.

He filed a lawsuit alleging that the NFL has conspired to keep him out of the league.

The Seahawks are searching for a backup quarterback behind Russell Wilson. He first sat during the anthem in the 2016 season and then knelt.

Kaepernick has received little interest since he became a free agent after the 2016 season, with no workouts scheduled before the Seahawks' reported interest.

Colin Kaepernick hasn't played a down in the National Football League since the 2016 season where he played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Bayern have already wrapped up their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title and are a goal up here going into the second leg. The Turin club have visited Real Madrid eight times in their history, losing five and winning just twice.

"But it's a situation here where Colin Kaepernick was going to come in there and work out there and now he's not". It was reported last season that Kaepernick would no longer kneel during the national anthem if he were to be signed.

Based on Schefter's report, it seems that the Seahawks haven't entirely ruled out bringing aboard Kaepernick, but if the kneeling was a deal-breaker this time (as well as over the past year), you have to imagine it will be again next time.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted some updates to the Schefter report.

The Seahawks are in need of a backup quarterback after cutting backup Trevone Boykin last month, after Boykin's longtime girlfriend accused him of a brutal assault in an interview with a Dallas television station.

Kaepernick is not the only player rumored to be facing a blowback for participating in the protest.

He started all 16 games for the 49ers in 2013, finishing the year with a 12-4 record a year after he helped lead them to Super Bowl XLVII where they ultimately lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31. Duane Brown has also protested in the past, and is now on the Seahawks' roster. In fact, this news broke while Kaepernick was sitting in on the deposition of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
