Boko Haram has freed all the girls abducted from the school in Dapchi, except one, Leah Sharibu, who remains captive because she reportedly refused to renounce her belief in Christianity.

"The secrecy around the condition of the Chibok Girls and most recent Dapchi Girls debacle by those involved is the reason people like me are out of the picture".

The former Minister of Education spoke in commemoration of the 4th year anniversary of the kidnap of the girls. There was a credible window, but zero Will to rescue the girls. At least 112 Chibok schoolgirls are believed to still be in captivity.

But speaking to The Cable hours later, John Agim, defence spokesman, said it is not the first time that the girls were said to have been killed or married off.

"Let the government do its best to see that every Nigerian citizen in the hands of Boko Haram is released during this year".

He said given the experience of Sharibu, Chibok parents were anxious whether the remaining Chibok girls were being held back due to their faith.

In September 2015, Buhari raises the possibility of an exchange of Boko Haram prisoners for the girls.

He further advised the federal government to demand for proof of life, as it carries out negotiations to secure the release of the remaining girls still in captivity.

Buhari, in a message to the parents of the girls yesterday, urged the parents to keep their hopes alive on the return of their daughters.

Nigerian authorities have made a commitment to make schools safer and more resilient to attack, and UNICEF stands with them to implement the Safe Schools Declaration, by which Nigeria commits to protecting schools and universities from violence and military use during armed conflict.

According to him, Salkida's claims are only meant to discourage the government.

"The attendance was too poor", said Mr. Nkeki.

In a statement to mark the fourth anniversary of the incident, the President assured that he was still working to ensure their release.

Mr Danladi was one of those that once offered both medical and psychosocial support to the parents of the abducted girls.

"We know that this is not the news parents want to hear after four whole years of waiting, but we want to be as honest as possible with you".

Some of the Chibok schoolgirls managed to escape, while others were later rescued or freed following negotiations. "But when it comes to not knowing the faith that befell your missing child can be very tough", he said. Over half of them - 112- are still with the terrorists that abducted them. We will continue to persist, and the parents should please not give up.
