Saudi Arabia's push for a tough stand against its arch-rival Iran will also dominate the summit as regional tensions grow over the wars in Syria and Yemen.

Adel al-Jubeir was speaking at a news conference after the end of an Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia, which had not mentioned Syria in a statement read out at the close.

The summit begins 24 hours after the United States, France and Britain launched controversial air strikes in war-torn Syria in response to a reported regime chemical attack on the decimated rebel enclave of eastern Ghouta last week.

On Sunday, Jubeir commented on the statement adopted at the summit, saying that the Arab League condemned the use of chemical weapons by Syrian authorities, however the released text of the document does not include the statement.

As a chair of the 28th arab summit, His Majesty will deliver a speech at the opening of the summit, where Arab leaders will discuss wide-ranging issues of concern to the Arab world including latest political developments in the region. "And first of these is the Iranian interference, the aim of which is not for the well-being of the Arabs or their interests", he said.
