  • How a Football Field Size Asteroid Caught Us by Surprise

The asteroid called 2013 US3 included in the list of potential threats to Earth, the maximum closer to the Blue planet on April 29.

A giant asteroid gave Earth a surprise close shave this week, flying by at a distance of 192,000 kilometers, just a day after astronomers discovered the object, scientists say.

Now recently NASA had released a chart of NEOs that are in a position to pass the earth in future using the CNEOs software.

The safety of our planet, however, was jeopardized over the weekend when scientists nearly failed to detect a football field-sized asteroid heading towards Earth.

The 2018 GE3 is roughly 3.6 times the size of the one that impacted Earth in Russia's Tunguska region in 1908. Some hours later, Spaceweather.com reported that an amateur astronomer Michael Jager of Weibenkirchen Austria has posted the video of the asteroid that was recorded when asteroid fly past through the southern constellation Serpens.

With an estimated diameter of 157 to 361 feet (48 to 110 meters), the asteroid's impact with the Earth could have caused substantial damage.

Kennedy: Unanswered questions in Facebook privacy issue
As of December, Facebook reported an average of 1.4 billion daily active users and 2.1 billion monthly active users. Zuckerberg said everyone who uses Facebook consents to what they agree to share, and has complete control of it.

The asteroid that flew by Earth Sunday was up to six times the size of the meteor that exploded over Russia's Ural Mountains in Chelyabinsk back in February 2013.

NASA tracks asteroids that make close approaches to Earth, providing data on the distance and estimated diameter of each object.

The asteroid which flies past the earth has a speed about 66,000 miles per hour but the speed will have broken down once the asteroid enters the Earth's atmosphere.

CNET said 2018 GE3 was among the largest space rocks to come so close to Earth. Nevertheless, a few of an asteroid this size may have gotten across Earth's surface area, and an asteroid this huge can triggering some local damage, depending upon different elements such as structure, speed, entry angle, and area of effect.
