"It was a pre-planned narrative to remove the nine advisers to the Delhi government appointed by the AAP government as the party was hand-in-glove with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre to remove the nine in a pick-and-choose manner", Maken said in a statement.

Stating that he had been an adviser to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from 16 January 2016 to 31 March 2016 for preparation of Delhi's annual budget for the financial year 2016-17, Chadha said he was offered an honorarium of Re 1 per month for it and that he had thus earned a "princely sum of Rs 2.50 for 75 days of his work".

This seemed absurd, as the Order was already cleared by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal but rejected by the Home Ministry later, who pointed out that these posts hadn't been approved by the Central Government as required under a 1997 circular, and reiterated in 2015.

The Opposition on Tuesday hailed the decision of the Centre to annul the appointments of nine advisers, including the one to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisoida.

"I too was one of these young foolhardy individuals who thought they brought value to the table.", Chadha wrote in the letter.

The GAD's order said, quoting the MHA's letter, that "no prior approval of the central government has been taken for creation of said posts on which these persons have been appointed on co-terminus basis".

He stressed that the Centre was making attempts to "flop the flourishing education system" in Delhi. "They can't run universities, they can't prevent rapes", said Sisodia.

In a bid to sack the officials, the Centre seemed to commit a blunder.

Why, some may wonder, does the Centre allow several important constitutional posts to remain vacant for a long time if it feels so strongly about upholding the spirit of the Constitution? The appointments were made to assist cabinet ministers and also include more MLAs in governance work.

Sisodia said that of the nine people disqualified, at least four had stopped working with the Delhi government before Tuesday's order.

Whether this is a plot to defame the Aam Aadmi Party's reputation in Delhi remains to be seen. The appointment of Atishi Marlena as adviser was the only additional post.

The powers, which Kejriwal referred to in his speech during a discussion in the State Assembly on an "Outcome Report" on the performance of the L-G's office, included the authority to take vigilance and disciplinary action against government officers.
