Upcoming Apple iPhone could support dual-SIM?

  • Apple вскоре может представить новые iPhone

"(NASDAQ:AAPL) has, yet again, revisited its pricing strategy of the 6.1" LCD model and can make it cheaper enough.

Unsurprisingly, the iPhone X was immediately followed by iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

In his note, Ming-Chi Kuo explains that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone could be available in two models, one with a single SIM and another with dual SIM dual standby.

Apple launched its anniversary edition iPhone X a year ago and raised many eyebrows for its expensive price tag. According to Kuo, the dual SIM support 6.1 inch iPhone will cost between $650 and $750, which is roughly around Rs 42,000 to 50,000. It is a popular model, topping customer satisfaction surveys, becoming the t op-selling smartphone in the United Kingdom in the year it launched, and Apple revealed last year that it is a strong performer in emerging markets like India.

He also pointed out to the longer shelf lives of iPhones as a possible reason for the growth in sales figures for the iPhone X. Apple which has eight out of top 10 smartphones, including its three-year-old models, now generates the most profits compared to current competing smartphones from other OEMs. Also, a recent iPhone leak has revealed that iPhone SE 2 is pretty much confirmed (maybe with a different name).

A dual-SIM iPhone at such a cheap price could be a game changer for Apple outside of the US. For instance, a user will be able to switch carriers without having to swap out their SIM cards. The feature is growing in popularity, especially Europe and commercial markets like China where business people routinely travel multiple countries. In previous notes, Kuo has said that Apple will use both Intel's XMM 7560 modem and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X20 modem. According to the analyst, the iPhone 9 could see 100 million to 120 million units sold between and third quarters of 2018 and 2019. The global handset market registered a drop of one per cent. This is where Android has taken the lead.

Apple might not be done with the iPhone SE, at least that's what the new Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) listing suggests. Highlighting just how big a success the device has turned out to be for Apple, the report further goes on to add that the iPhone X alone managed to generate around 21 per cent of total industry revenue too. "A 6.1" iPhone at $550, though sounds very alluring, is hard to believe.

While it is certainly doable to get the LCD model down to that price point, it could mean certain doom for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

After the success of Apple's flagship device, the iPhone X, the company is already focused on the next iteration of its smartphone phenom. The higher prices of the new iPhones helped Apple to score an all-time record in quarterly profit and overall revenue. Thus, we can wait with bated breath Apple to release something in the next month or so. Till then stay tuned!
