Cowboys acquire WR Tavon Austin for 2018 sixth rounder

  • USA TODAY Sports Tavon Austin after making 194 catches for 1,689 yards over five seasons with the Rams was traded to Dallas on Saturday

Five-year veteran Tavon Austin will be packing his bags and heading east to Dallas as he officially traded by the Rams to those Boys, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Austin, drafted eighth overall in 2013, has made 194 catches for 1,689 yards and 12 touchdowns in his five-year National Football League career, but he is not expected to act as a direct replacement for the departed Dez Bryant out wide.

Austin will be a player to keep an eye on in free agency to see how he's used and if his production goes up, but as for now, he's an afterthought in terms of fantasy wide receivers and is still outside of the top-100.

No Sweat over knee issues for Eagles' 4th round draft pick
He was unaware that Pete Retzlaff, the tight end whose No. 44 was retired by the Eagles, starred at South Dakota State. Burton and Celek's contributions will need to get filled and Goedert has the versatility to fill both of their spots.

It's the second receiver-related move during the draft after the Cowboys dumped franchise touchdown catch leader Dez Bryant in a cost-cutting decision this month.

From adding depth to the offensive line with players Joseph Noteboom and Brian Allen to from filling needs at linebacker with Micah Kiser, Los Angeles has plenty of reasons to be thrilled with their selections from this year's draft. Austin made a bigger impact in the running game, with 59 carries for 270 yards and a touchdown.

"I'm just the type of guy who wants the ball in my hands any type of way", Austin told ESPN.com's Alden Gonzalez in June. He also recorded 1,238 rushing yards for nine touchdowns, and scored three punts returned for touchdowns. That's how they view Tavon Austin.
