  • Israelis may be anxious but Palestinians in Gaza have actually been killed

According to the Hamas health ministry, around 50 Palestinians have been killed since protests and clashes began along the Gaza border on March 30 and hundreds of others have been wounded by gunfire.

Some 15,000 Palestinian rioters in the Gaza Strip took part in protests along the security fence with Israel on Friday.

The latest bloody attack by Israel came only a few days after President Donald Trump announced that the USA was pulling out of the Iran nuclear accord and would enforce punishing economic sanctions against Iran.

In Jordan, dozens of Palestinians waving flags and chanting slogans joined "nakba" protests in an area near the Israeli-controlled frontier between the West Bank and the kingdom.

Israel's military said some 15,000 Palestinians took part in Friday's protest.

Hundreds of guests will attend the opening event, including the U.S. ambassador to Israel, David Friedman; the daughter and son-in-law of the president, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner; Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin; and Jason Greenblatt, the United States special representative for worldwide negotiations.

Monday's inauguration of the U.S. Embassy comes five months after President Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, a move that outraged Palestinians as blatantly pro-Israel.

While al-Ayyam said 973 were injured on the Gaza border on Friday, al-Quds put the number at more than 700 in both Gaza and the West Bank.

Palestinians hurled pipe bombs and grenades towards Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops, sabotaged security infrastructure, burnt tires, and hurled rocks towards the security fence and at IDF troops, said a IDF statement on Friday evening.

But the embassy transfer, set for Monday, will come just days after Israel and Iran traded blows across the Syrian border, firing missiles at each other Wednesday and following up with bristling threats in a steep escalation of tensions.

From the camps, smaller groups moved closer to the fence. "Hamas is responsible for everything that happens in Gaza, above & below ground", the IDF Spokesperson Unit added. Israel says it only opens fire when necessary to stop infiltrations, damage to the fence, and attacks.

Israeli Defense Forces issued a statement, saying that almost 5,000 protesters were part of "riots" along the Gaza-Israel border.

The Israeli military has faced global and domestic criticism over its use of live fire, with the United Nations and European Union calling for an independent investigation rejected by Israel. Sinwar has vowed in the past that protesters would "breach the borders and pray at Al-Aqsa", referring to the major Muslim shrine in Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were driven out or fled homes in what is now Israel.

Many of Jordan's residents are descendants of Palestinian refugees.
