A day after the exit polls largely predicted a hung Assembly in Karnataka, speculation is rife about the Congress and the JD (S) forming the next Government without Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the saddle.

The last Assembly election in the southern state in 2013 had witnessed 71.4 per cent polling, the poll panel said. The comment is being seen as a sign of the party considering the possibility of a split verdict and anticipating the demands of Janata Dal Secular chief HD Deve Gowda, who has no fondness for Mr Siddaramaiah. Please note an average of 6+4+2 is 4. "At 6 feet you drown (sic)". Asked whether he felt threatened by competition for the CM's post ahead of poll results, he said: "In any party, there will be people with ambitions of becoming CM". Relax & enjoy your weekend. In 2005, former Prime Minister Gowda had expelled Siddaramaiah from JD (S) and it was then that Siddaramaiah joined Congress. The CM said he was confident of Congress getting a majority, and he would continue for a second term.

However, in 2008, Karnataka saw a statewide polling of 64.68% in which the electorate voted to give the BJP 110 out of the 224 seats, voting in a one-party government as against two successive coalitions (Congress-JDS and JDS-BJP) from 2004-2008.

The BJP has declared B.S. Yeddyurappa as its chief ministerial candidate. We are coming back.

Oklahoma Discrimination Is Not OK
He predicted that as a result of the bill's passage, "countless young people... will be stigmatized by state-sanctioned hate". Colyer, will not follow Oklahoma's example and will put the needs of the child first.

Officials said 58,008 polling stations were set up across the state, of which 12,002 were designated as "critical". The post-poll surveys claimed that the Janata Dal (Secular) or JD (S) will be the "kingmaker" with almost 40 seats.

The sentiment is strong that the tea leaves of the Karnataka assembly election result will tell the contours of the much bigger 2019 Lok Sabha battle.

"Every Congressman or (party) activist I have met in Karnataka has no doubt that we will be the single largest party. I think this time the incumbent has put in strenuous efforts to turn out the voters and the results may reflect that", Krishnaswamy said. "They won't say because their mindset is like that while Siddaramaiah, true to the Congress culture, has spoken very boldly and transparently indicating the confidence we have in our victory", he added. Shah also said in Goa that BJP would form the government in Karnataka.

Many Congress leaders said that people on the streets both in Bengaluru and rural pockets speak highly of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his welfare schemes aimed at making the state hunger-free.
