LeBron James: 'It's not about me and Dan [Gilbert]'

The reversal of a pivotal call in the closing minute of regulation launched a torrent of debate following the Golden State Warriors' 124-114 overtime win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The Cavaliers would settle for a desperate shot that missed, and head to overtime, where they would fall to the Warriors. While James was clearly outside the restricted area, officials also had the chance to review whether James was in legal guarding position and changed the call to a block.

Instead of the Cavs having the ball up two, the Warriors were able to tie things.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant connected with each other early in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

"Number two; I don't really know what words I can use that are fit for FCCC airwaves to explain the tragic decisions by J.R. Smith". And then I looked over at Bron and he looked like he was trying to call a timeout.

And right where they've opened every year since 2015.

LeBron James has always publicly said he believes in his teammates. And then tonight in The Finals on the biggest stage, when our team played well, played our (butt) off, man, it ain't right.

"I thought I read that play just as well as I read any play in my career, defensively", LeBron said in a very measured tone after the game. One would think a performance like that would be good enough to see his team through but the Cavs fell short as the rest of the team struggled to support James. "We got lucky. He could've taken a shot but he dribbled out".

After the game, Cavs coach Tyron Lue told media that had been the case, shortly before Smith spoke to media and claimed he was in fact aware the scores were tied.

The All-Star point guard sustained a season-ending injury, but has provided Boston with greater value than any of the assets that the Cavaliers received in return for him, despite his lack of availability.

The Warriors dominated overtime, outscoring the Cavaliers 17-7, while tempers flared as Tristan Thompson was ejected for an altercation with Draymond Green.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said: "It's not going to be easy".

The Golden State Warriors showed that they don't have to be dependent on any one player as they came together as a team and delivered when it mattered.

After using their patented third-quarter spurt to go in front by as many as seven points, the Warriors found themselves in a 94-all tie before Green and Curry hit consecutive 3-pointers to create a six-point lead with 4:39 to go in regulation.
