The world number one will face 2016 Roland Garros champion Garbine Muguruza after the Spanish woman overwhelmed Maria Sharapova 6-2 6-1 in the day's other quarter-final. "I think that's a load of crap, but, you know, it's just me".

This was when the Halep could have gone into a shell, but as she has so often shown in both wins and losses, she will fight it out till the decider, keep running till someone is out of gas.

"I mean, it's not that important, because it's constantly this thing going on, you know. since a year ago", she said after a crushing 6-2, 6-1 last-eight victory over Maria Sharapova in Paris.

Muguruza, who is 3-1 against the No. 1-seeded Halep in her career, has never squared off with her in a Grand Slam.

The victor of Thursday's semi-final will also decide the world number one spot which Muguruza held for four weeks past year.

Muguruza also dismissed the idea she is favourite against Halep, adding: "No, I don't feel I'm favorite for this match, because she's played better than I have this year".

Muguruza had lost all three previous times she faced Sharapova, whose five Grand Slam titles include two at Roland Garros.

"When you're writing an autobiography, I don't think there is any reason to write anything that's not true", said Sharapova.

While rain led to an early end of the day for the men's competition, the women's draw gave a full dose of excitement Wednesday at Roland Garros. The tiebreak may have been one-sided, but the long rallies, Kerber's thunderous groundstrokes and Halep's gritty defense made it an entertaining first set that lasted for an hour.

Hispanic teens also reported higher levels of internet usage, with 54% saying they use the internet on a near-constant basis. Despite all this social media use, teens couldn't agree on what impact - if any - social media had on their lives.

The Romanian had three double-faults in the first set but just one in the next two.

Muguruza has not dropped a set so far in this year's tournament as she seeks a second championship in Paris and third major trophy overall.

"I missed a lot in the beginning".

The American pair have contrasting styles, with Stephens' game based on her athleticism and ability to get many balls back, while also turning defence into offence fairly quickly.

Follow along for a breakdown of quarterfinal action at the second Grand Slam of the year.

On Wednesday, Halep looked anything but the top seed, slipping 4-0 down in the first set before she rallied to defeat Kerber, a two-time major victor who had exited in the first round in Paris in the last two years.

The two former Paris champions had not been inconvenienced by too much tennis over the past few days - Serena Williams pulled out of her match with Sharapova while Muguruza's opponent Lesia Tsurenko lasted just two games before retiring hurt. "If I do that, I will be okay after the match, no matter the result". The last time the two were scheduled to play was in Qatar in February, but Halep was forced to retire.

Muguruza, by contrast, started with a swagger, a rasping forehand giving her a second break before Sharapova went 4-0 down when she put a tame attempted drop shot into the net.
