  • Liverpool transfer news Nabil Fekir wants to join the Reds

Liverpool have added their second new player of the summer transfer window in Lyon team captain Nabil Fekir.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has ruled out finding a resolution before the World Cup begins, though, saying the deal is at a "standstill".

Despite earlier reports suggesting a deal would not be completed until after the World Cup had finished, a fee has reportedly been agreed between the two sides.

Despite this, Goal understands Liverpool believe a deal can be thrashed out before Fekir flies to Russian Federation with his national team this weekend.

Liverpool now hope to iron out the fine details of Fekir's move to the club and are optimistic of finalising a £55m transfer in the next 24 hours, according to the Mirror.

French outlet L'Equipe claim a medical will be undertaken by Friday, with Melissa Reddy saying that the deal is expected to be confirmed on Friday. The case won't certainly be resolved during the World Cup and I do not think that there will be changes before (the WC).

'We haven't set a starting price because we haven't discussed that yet'.

The same article states that Fekir would be a natural replacement for Philippe Coutinho after the Brazil worldwide completed a £142m move to FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.

Fekir, 24, would join midfielders Fabinho and Naby Keita in joining the Reds this summer.

Fekir impressed for the French outfit last season, netting 23 goals and providing eight assists in all competitions.
