It also comes as Wells Fargo joins Bank of America, Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase in banning the use of company-issued credit cards for buying cryptocurrency. This step was taken by the firm considering the degradation of device performance and battery life due to mining as in the performance section of the guidelines Apple noted: "Apps should not rapidly drain battery, generate excessive heat, or put unnecessary strain on device resources".

However, cryptocurrency mining apps that don't use device processing power but instead run in the cloud are allowed in the App Store.

The ban is clearly spelled out in the new set of developer guidelines for the App Store released during Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which took place last week.

For those interested in cryptocurrencies, don't expect to do any mining via apps installed on the iPhone.

Wendy's, Denny's and more trolling IHOP over burger announcement
The pancake chain has been coy about whether the name flip is permanent, saying today that it was "for the time being". Until Monday afternoon, when Burger King changed its Facebook profile photo to a logo that said "Pancake King".

Further adding to the pressure on cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin's price declined on Monday following the hacking of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Coinrail. The move comes at a time when 'cryptojacking', a malware attack wherein malicious attackers scrumptiously hijack a computer or a phone's computing power to mine cryptocurrencies, is a growing menace. While this particular adjustment may not seem to be a developer-friendly move at first glance because of its restrictive nature, it will actually be a boon for devs who create apps that offer cryptocurrency transactions.

If you haven't worked it out yet, this news is very good news and will see some brand-new cryptocurrency-based applications go live on the App Store. News about Apple's changes to the App Store aren't likely to play particularly well. In a dedicated cryptocurrency section, the company goes on to break down in more detail what is - and, crucially, is not - permissible.

When consumers choose to share their health record data with trusted apps, the data flows directly from HealthKit to the third-party app and is not sent to Apple's servers. One such addition explicitly forbids apps from offering 'currency for completing tasks, such as downloading other apps, encouraging other users to download, posting to social networks, etc'.
