High heat and humidity will return for Tuesday.

The record-high temperature pattern is expected to continued through Thursday, with heat indexes - the "feels like" temperature when accounting for humidity - reaching up to 110 degrees in some parts.

The passage of a cold front along with a 30 per cent chance of rain on Friday is expected to help temper the heat, leading to more seasonable summer weather the following weekend.

Sudbury has been under a heat warning since Friday. Facilities that are open until 11:45 p.m. on Monday include Sunnyside Park/Gus Ryder Pool on Lake Shore Boulevard, and the pools at Alexandra, McGregor, and Monarch parks.

The Salvation Army was out at Gore Park handing out bottles of water reminding people to heed the warnings and protect themselves, and police have already received a number of calls including one on Appleby Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington where they rescued a dog from a hot vehicle where the temperature was 66 degrees.

Isolated adults, seniors, young children, people experiencing homelessness and people with certain mental health illnesses, chronic illnesses, heart and lung issues or limited mobility are at greater risk of heat-related illnesses.
