Some broadcast TV networks are quietly clearing the deck in anticipation of President Donald Trump's announcement of his nominee to succeed Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court.

President Trump is expected to announce his nomination for the open supreme court seat on Monday. "But I'm getting very close to making a final decision". Kethledge, 51, is a judge for the Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, while Hardiman, 52, serves on the Philadelphia-based 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The three others were justices Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett and Raymond Kethledge. He's also had a hand in Trump's picks for lower courts; the president has gotten a whopping 21 circuit court judges confirmed since taking office and almost all were outsourced to The Federalist Society to fill.

At the same time, Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, has quietly been lobbying the president against choosing Amy Coney Barrett, an appeals court judge and a Catholic mother of seven, according to The New York Times.

Leo said that it was impossible to predict the positions of any of the leading candidates for the seat on abortion.

Thapar was on the shortlist of candidates after judge Antonin Scalia died in 2016. "They're good judges. I think they'd be fine justices of the Supreme Court".

As the reptile lunged at her, Golden Retriever Todd jumped to her aid. "Please say a little prayer for my sweet hero", she said. But Todd hasn't been fazed by the incident, with Godwin saying he's been a playful puppy, "just acting like nothing happened".

Talking to reporters travelling with him to Montana overseas Air Force One, Mr Trump said he has interviewed some "extraordinarily talented and brilliant" people during the process.

"We are close to making a decision", Trump said. Trump has spent the weekend discussing his options with allies and will announce his pick at 9 p.m. Monday from the White House.

Judge Raymond Kethledge of MI, who serves on the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, is seen in this 2017 photo released by Bloomsbury Publishing Inc.in New York, New York, U.S., July 6, 2018.

Trump has teased details of his process in recent days, saying Thursday that he was down to four people and "of the four people, I have it down to three or two". "But I'm putting conservative people on". "So I think it's a bit of a scare tactic and rank speculation more than anything else".
