The lanky Spaniard, who joined the Blues for a club-record fee of £60 million past year, didn't have the best debut season in the English top-flight, ending the 2017-18 campaign with 15 goals in 48 appearances (all competitions).

The 26-year-old was reportedly set to join champions Manchester City, but, according to De Laurentiis, the player would prefer to live in London.

Before joining Chelsea, Conte had only coached in his native Italy, leading Juventus to three consecutive Serie A titles from 2012-14 before taking over the national team at Euro 2016.

"The Sarri affair is almost at its conclusion, it all depends on him".

The significant breakthrough over compensation for Sarri came as talks intensified over midfielder Jorginho, a player that Sarri had specifically requested be signed by Chelsea. It's all in the hands of lawyers.

On a side table next to him were his favorite snacks: Doritos, a box of Chocolate Chip Crunch, and a bottle of soda. Renard Matthews died last month in a shooting with police finding him with gunshot wound to his head.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, after playing against Napoli in last season's Champions League, said: "We faced one of the best sides I faced in my career - probably the best".

"City won't dominate the way they dominated this past year, I'm nearly certain about that".

But Goal understands that Chelsea and Conte have now agreed a £9 million ($12m) severance package to remove him from first-team coaching duties.

Sarri isn't the only one who boarded a plane in Naples bound for London by the sounds of it, as Jorginho is believed to have made the same trip.

Antonio Conte took charge of Chelsea's pre-season training at the weekend, despite speculation over his future. His relationship with the several players and the club's director Marina Granovskaia are thought to be two of the main factors behind his removal, rather than the fifth-place finish in the league last season. CSKA Moscow midfielder, Aleksandr Golovin looks very likely to become the club's first the addition of the summer.
