United States President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to meet in Helsinki, Finland on July 16.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced the indictments Friday, accusing the Russian intelligence officials of waging a sophisticated cyber operation to hack into emails of the Democratic National Committee, the campaign arm of the House Democrats and Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta.

During a press conference Friday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein detailed the extent of the alleged Russian hacking, but said there is not yet any evidence that an American citizen was aware of the efforts.

The charges come as Mr. Mueller continues to investigate potential coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Notably, the DoJ report does not mention anything about the impact of these illegal interference on the outcome of the 2016 elections.

Sam Nunberg, Stone's former protégé, said in an interview on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" that he also thought the indictment was referring to Stone.

Some researchers said the indictment might have depended on U.S. signals intelligence, the fruits of which are rarely revealed because it quotes electronic messages sent to an unidentified organization presumed to be London-based WikiLeaks.

Stone went on to closely parse the language of the indictment, arguing, "My contact with the campaign in 2016 was Donald Trump".

The announcement of the indictment came at an awkward time for Trump, who met Britain's Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle on Friday for tea during a visit to Britain.

But the report said it found no evidence of political bias in the FBI's decision to not pursue criminal charges against Clinton. The hearing was often raucous and seemed at times more like a TV comedy about Congress than a real committee hearing.

At the time, people familiar with the probe said the new prosecutors were being brought on board because the case would probably be turned over to the federal prosecutor's office in Washington.

Several prominent Democratic lawmakers called on Trump to cancel the summit.

Nielsen says there's intelligence Russian Federation is using social media to foster "divisiveness" among the American people. But he simultaneously denounced the Mueller investigation as a "rigged witch hunt", and said he has been "tougher on Russian Federation than anybody".

Special counsel Robert Mueller described infamous hacker Guccifer 2.0 as a Russian agent in his latest indictment released Friday, a direct contradiction of what Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to President Donald Trump, claimed a year ago.

In early 2016, Russian intelligence officers obtained a new pool of the virtual currency Bitcoin.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats in March told Senate Armed Services Committee members that the White House is "actively engaged", in election interference matters and has made the issue a "high priority".

In their correspondence with the "US person", the alleged hackers were pretending to be hacker Guccifer 2.0, and asked whether the material they posted online (a turnout model for the Democrats presidential campaign) was of use.

The reporter, who was not identified, "responded by discussing when to release the documents and offering to write an article about their release".

The Russian government has repeatedly denied that it had any role in the DNC and Clinton campaign hacking.
