One very lucky victor in San Jose, Calif., bought the winning ticket from a liquor store and got to take the $522-million jackpot.

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot numbers added up to $522 million for a lucky victor in the San Jose area, the California Lottery said Wednesday morning. Lottery officials say the person with the winning ticket has a year to claim the $522 million prize.

The winning numbers were 19, 2, 4, 1 and 29. The Mega Millions jackpot swelled to over half a billion dollars ahead of the drawing, and the odds were against us. If the victor takes the lump sum, the cash payout is worth $303 million.

The jackpot is worth $522 million.

Eleven other New Jersey Lottery ticket-holders each won a $10,000 third prize for matching four out of the five white balls and the Gold Mega Ball.

Catching a foul ball at a Major League Baseball game is something many fans dream of but very few get to experience. The kid got another baseball - signed by Javier Baez to boot. "He had already helped that kid get a ball".

In total, there were 3,109,361 winning tickets Tuesday night at all prize levels, including the jackpot.

And you'll have to pay taxes in the future on whatever you earn on your lump sum, as you would with the annuity payouts.

The largest jackpot was in 2012 when three people purchased winning tickets to split a $656 million jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night's drawing is $147 million annuity, $89.1 million cash.
