The England youth worldwide scored Arsenal's equaliser in a 1-1 friendly draw against Atletico Madrid in Singapore on Thursday - with the LaLiga side going on to win the resulting penalty shoot-out 3-1.

The Gunners continued their pre-season preparations with a penalty shootout defeat to Atletico Madrid in Singapore, and Ramsey admits the club are undergoing a period of adjustment.

Speculation is mounting that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is set to follow manager Arsene Wenger out of the club, marking the end of an era, to join AC Milan. He's a very good person, a very good professional.

Ramsey captained Arsenal against Atlético, with the match finishing 1-1 in normal time before the La Liga club won 3-1 on penalties.

Emery was also full of praise for Emile Smith Rowe, the 17-year-old midfielder who equalised for Arsenal with a spectacular strike into the top corner in the second half after a solo run.

This [Ramsey as captain] is not yet official, this decision.

'This is the moment for young players to show their quality, like Emile has done today, ' he said. "I said to you I want five captains in the team".

Sri Lanka reign in Colombo despite Maharaj milestone
Sri Lanka were 151-3 in the second innings with Dimuth Karunaratne and Danushka Gunathilaka adding 91 runs for the first wicket. His effort is also the best against the Islanders by any opposition bowler.

Arsenal coach Unai Emery and his players were probably relieved to see the back of Jan Oblak at the break - the goalkeeper was in typically dominant form during the opening 45 minutes, denying Arsenal on numerous occasions.

"It's every day. He's starting today's match because his performances have been good in every training session".

The match started off well with the gunners having a 50% possession of the ball and they had a few decent chances with new Arsenal players like Matteo Guendouzi impressing but they conceded right before halftime after Atletico Madrid scored through a header hence the gunners going to the dressing room with one goal down.

However, the 29-year-old's high £35 million (Dh120m) release clause could prove problematic in the north London side's attempts to get the deal over the line.

Gazidis is also in Singapore with the team this week, and Emery said the two talk "every day".

C Harish Kumar Reddy is wary of Emery's appreciation for the player and hopes Arsenal "don't go that route" of signing Nzonzi.
