In Matic's absence, United were thrashed by Liverpool in MI on Saturday, losing 4-1 in a match that Mourinho said he would not have paid to watch if he were a supporter.

Mourinho is bookies favourite to be sacked, or walk away from his post at Old Trafford this season.

After the game was over, in his post-match press conference, Mourinho gave another of his vehement monologues that had everyone engrossed.

"The atmosphere was good but if I was them I wouldn't have come", said Mourinho.

The World Cup has hampered United's preparations and Mourinho - who has been visibly downbeat amid the club's struggles to deliver new signings - has now lost key midfielder Matic through injury.

Speaking after United's 4-1 loss to Liverpool at the International Champions Cup on Saturday, Mourinho told MUTV: "He has the baby and after the baby is born - handsome baby, full of health, thank god".

"This is not our team, this is not our squad - not even 30 per cent of it". So don't look to this.

Danon says Israeli forces saw the plane "crossing the border. we tried to contact a few times, and there was no response". The two pilots ejected and landed in Syrian territory. "Iranian military entrenchment in Syria is a red line for Israel".

Responding to a question about Chilean worldwide Alexis Sanchez's performance against Liverpool, Mourinho suggested the pre-season tour had been of little value, adding that the team were just trying to "survive". We are playing here just to survive and to have some not very happy results. When it went, it was goodbye.

Shaqiri, 26, did the heavy lifting on the play, outmuscling a United defender and then slipping a pass back to Sturridge who made it 2-1.

It was the Swiss who set up their second, bursting into the box and finding Sturridge who curled a first-time effort into the bottom corner after 65 minutes.

"So what did this game give me?"

United soon hit back though, with Andreas Pereira continuing his impressive pre-season form by curling in a sensational 25-yard free-kick to level within three minutes.

It was a nice way for the Reds to finish up their United States exhibition swing as they now travel back to Merseyside before continuing their preparations for the season with a training camp in France beginning next week.

After coming on for his debut as a half-time substitute, Shaqiri rounded off the scoring in the 82nd minute with an explosive overhead kick...

Klopp was thrilled with his contribution and said: "That's not normal after four days in the club, adapting that well to the style of play".
