Fredericton man, 48, charged with four counts of first-degree murder in shooting

Canada's Minister of Public Safety says all of Canada stands with the two fearless Fredericton police officers who lost their lives protecting their community Friday.
Fredericton police has said that the Red Cross and the city have found lodging for 50 residents of the apartment complex who have been unable to return to their homes.
Costello and Const. Sara Burns were the first officers to arrive at the scene of the early morning shooting.
Officials clarified Saturday that one person was in hospital after the Friday shooting - Raymond, who is being treated for serious injuries.
"As we remember the awful tragedy that struck two weeks ago, the loss of life, the way the community came together, there is a great town a few hours east of here, our friends in Fredericton, who are going through a very, very hard night", Trudeau said.
Jackie McLean says a police inspector told her family that her common-law partner Robb Costello was among the four people who died in a shooting at an apartment complex.
RCMP will be taking over the homicide investigation, Fitch said, and external officers have been called in to help provide shift relief for Fredericton police.
He said there had been fights in the apartment complex, but never anything like this.
"I saw an armoured vehicle out in the courtyard and I opened up my window to see if I could hear anything and the shots started again", he said.
"You hear a lot about gun violence in the United States", he said, "but this morning when I heard those noises, what's starting to sink in is that those noises were people losing their lives".
"It's been a very hard day", Fredericton Police Chief Leanne Fitch told reporters Friday afternoon.
By Friday afternoon, a memorial of flowers and messages was growing in front of the Fredericton police station. "Thank you for ALL that you do!".
Residents of the Brookside neighborhood of Fredericton, New Brunswick reported waking to the sounds of multiple gunshots.
Across Canada, many police forces have lowered their flags to half-mast.
Police advised in a tweet at 11:04 a.m., that there was no longer a threat to the public and lockdowns were no longer required. "We grieve as one".
"Please appreciate this is a hard time for their families and our colleagues", the force tweeted, adding that more information would be released when they're able.
The investigation at the shooting scene is ongoing Saturday morning.

A vigil for the shooting victims was held Friday evening, where more than 100 mourners packed into St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church.
