An F-15 jet reportedly attempted to intercept the aircraft stolen by a suspect whom law enforcement has identified as "Rich". "Ah damn it, I don't know, man". I would like to apologize to each and every one of them.

Police and Coast Guard are now at the scene of the crash, with the Pierce County Sheriff's office tweeting the plane was stolen by a mechanic who was "doing stunts" before the crash.

The sheriff said the pilot appeared to have acted alone and was likely killed in the crash.

Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, said on Twitter the man was suicidal and there was no connection to terrorism.

Airport officials confirmed via social media that no passengers were aboard the plane.

In one, the controller can be heard telling the pilot: "What we don't want to see is you get hurt or anyone else get hurt, so like I said, if you want to land, that's probably the best way to go".

The airline tells The Associated Press that the plane was a Horizon Air Q400 and it believed no passengers were on board.

A turboprop plane that was stolen from Sea-Tac International Airport has crashed on Ketron Island, near Steilacoom, authorities said. It's going to disappoint them to hear that I did this. "I'm a broken guy who had a few screws loose".

Jenkins described the island as remote, dark and sparsely populated.

The sheriff said earlier that the man was a airline mechanic, but the airline said the employee was a ground service agent. "Never really knew it until now". Well I would hope it would be for a guy like me'. There is no word about the recovery of the man inside the crashed plane.

He also wondered aloud whether Alaska Airlines would give him a job piloting if he could pull off a landing.

Witnesses told Seattle TV station KIRO that they saw the plane accompanied by two military aircraft before what they thought was a crash.

"It was unfathomable, it was something out of a movie", King said.

By 9:30 p.m., airport operations were back to normal at Sea-Tac Airport.

Many passengers awaiting takeoff tweeted that their planes were stopped on the ground during the incident.

Fighter pilots from the Air National Guard of Washington and OR flew alongside the plane, according to an emailed statement from Gov. Jay Inslee.
