President Trump visits Fort Drum

  • President Trump Signs Defense Spending Bill

President Trump announced the authorization of $717 billion for military funding over the next year.

The legislation -named after Senator John McCain- was officially signed into law by the Commander-in-Chief while he visited Fort Drum in NY.

The White House has officially banned the government use of hardware made by Chinese companies ZTE and Huawei, including smartphones, routers, and similar devices.

The measure authorizes $7.6 billion for 77 new F-35 "stealth" Joint Strike Fighter jets built by Lockheed Martin, and $24.1 billion to fund the construction of 13 new battle force ships. More than $11 billion is allocated for military construction, including family housing.

President Trump touted American military strength while in Fort Drum, New York just before he signed the annual 2019 defense spending bill. And just hours after signing the military spending bill Monday, he did the same thing at a fundraiser in upstate NY. "We are going to strengthen our military like never ever before and that's what we did".

China on Tuesday condemned measures targeting it in a new US defence act, saying it exaggerated antagonism and that Beijing would take a close look at aspects that beef up the role of a USA panel that reviews foreign investment proposals.

Barcelona refuse to deny interest in Paul Pogba: "20 days left"
Pogba returned to United from Juventus, where he lifted four Serie A titles, in the summer of 2016 for a then world record fee of £89m.

"The veterans' unemployment rate recently reached its lowest level in almost 20 years", he said. ZTE was nearly forced out of business after being accused of selling sensitive information to nations hostile to the USA, namely Iran and North Korea, in violation of trade laws.

However this practice has been formalised by the passing of the Defense Authorization Act, which prohibited the use of "Telecommunications equipment produced by Huawei Technologies Company or ZTE Corporation (or any subsidiary or affiliate of such entities)".

The NDAA also includes substantial language aimed at forcing the military into better reporting of aspects of their assorted to wars to Congress.

The measure also addresses child-on-child sexual assault at US military bases worldwide, an issue an Associated Press investigation revealed this spring. An AP investigation documented broad failures of justice when military kids report incidents. Mr. Trump, who has feuded with Mr. McCain for most of his presidency, didn't mention him during his remarks.

The John S. McCain National Defence Authorisation Act - named after the Arizona senator, who is battling brain cancer - broadens the scope of the committee that reviews foreign investments in the United States for national security concerns. That's likely to do with the rocky relationship the senator and the president have with one another - Trump has, in fact, disrespectfully mocked McCain during campaign rallies, even as the senator is dying from an aggressive form of brain cancer.
