Trump Says Jeff Sessions' Job Is Safe, Until November Anyway

  • Firing Jeff Sessions could open a can of worms for Donald Trump

The willingness of Republican senators to turn on Attorney General Jeff Sessions is the result of a furious lobbying campaign from President Donald Trump, who for the past 10 days has been venting his anger at Sessions to "any senator who will listen", as one GOP Senate aide put it... Justice Department lawyers have previously said Rosenstein is aware of the scope and activities of Mueller's investigation. Graham made the comments in an interview with "CBS This Morning" co-host John Dickerson that airs Thursday.

The poll also comes in the wake of last week's guilty verdicts in the trial of Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort on various tax and banking charges and a plea deal with the President's former personal attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, who admitted to several campaign finance violations and implicated Trump in a hush money scheme to silence women alleging affairs with the former businessman.

"What's happening is a disgrace, and at some point ... if it doesn't straighten out properly ..."

Last summer, Graham said there would be "holy hell to pay" if Sessions was sacked, but this week, he said the relationship between Trump and Sessions "is not working".

"I just would love to have him do a great job", he said.

The French actor's romantic history has also been turbulent with him divorcing his first wife actress Elisabeth Guignot in 1996. He rose to global fame when he bagged a Golden Globe for his 1990 role as Georges in the romantic comedy Green Card .

Trump has repeatedly attacked Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election campaign.

In his interview with Dickerson, Graham said the problems between the president and Sessions "go well beyond" Sessions' recusal from special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe, and the president "needs a Cabinet he's confident in".

"Knowing him as I do, I don't think he'll quit", Inhofe said Tuesday by telephone from Washington.

Wallace said, "Remember though, that the recusal of Sessions did not lead to the special counsel". He charged that Mr Mueller's probe was "highly conflicted" and that "real corruption goes untouched". But on Thursday, the president said that Sessions is safe - at least until the election.
